The winner of the second grant competition of the Competitive Innovation Fund (CIF) is the project of the Faculty of Medicine.

The winner of the second grant competition of the Competitive Innovation Fund (CIF) is the project submitted by the academic staff of the Faculty of Medicine of TSU:

"Development and implementation of a molecular pathology training program in Georgian universities for the purpose of improving higher medical education."

The goal of the project is to develop the teaching of molecular pathology in Georgia's higher medical and natural science schools to bring it into line with international standards and the spirit of the Bologna process. An integrated educational course of molecular pathology will be created (for undergraduate, residency, master's and doctoral students in biology) in cooperation with advanced European educational schools, experts and the International Association of Molecular Pathology;

In addition, the improvement of the infrastructure of the molecular pathology laboratory and equipping it with modern scientific equipment will be financed within the framework of the project.

Employees of the Department of Pathology of the Faculty of Medicine of TSU, the Institute of Morphology of Aleksandre Natishvili and the Tbilisi Medical Academy named after Petre Shotadze LLC are participating in the project.

Professor Christian Maurin - director of the Institute of Neuropathology of the Otto-von-Gerich University of Magderburg (Germany), pathologist anatomist. He is also an honorary doctor of TSU and a member of the International Advisory Council of the Faculty of Medicine of TSU.

Professor Maria Pia Foschini - Director of the School of Anatomical Pathology at the University of Bologna (Italy), Director of the Department of Pathological Anatomy at the Oncology Department of the Bellaria Clinic. Full professor of the Department of Pathological Anatomy of the University of Bologna, Director of the School of Pathological Anatomy of the University of Bologna, Head of the Department of Pathological Anatomy of the Oncology Department of the Bellaria University Hospital of Bologna.
